Many people are under the impression that the camshaft sensor is buried deep into the engine. Luckily, it's not true. It's actually quite easy to get to the camshaft sensor. Here's what you need to do:

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Find the camshaft sensor. It's usually located on the side of the valve cover. It's mounted on the cylinder head, placed opposite to the timing rotor. (On some Nissan models, like the Rogue, you have to remove a black box to access the sensor. The box is easy to remove.)
  3. Unclip the connector from the sensor.
  4. Remove the sensor with the 10mm socket.
  5. Install the new sensor in the reverse order of removal.
